According to reports, the Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels have made a trade which includes outfielder Justin Upton.

Reports are that the Angels have dealt pitcher Grayson Long and a player to be named later to the Tigers for Upton and cash.

According to MLB Pipeline, Long is currently the No. 9 prospect in the Angels organization.

Long, who is 23, was drafted by Los Angeles in the 3rd round of the 2015 draft. So far this season, during 26 starts in Single-A and Double-A ball, he has a record of 8-8 with a 2.69 ERA.

Upton, who signed a 6-year, $132.75 million contract with the Tigers prior to the 2016 season, would still be owed $88.5 million over the next four seasons.

Part of Upton’s contract with the Tigers included a no-trade list that did not have the Angels on it but he has not given them any guarantees regarding whether or not he will exercise his opt-out clause following the season.

Upton, who is 30-years-old, struggled a bit in his first season with the Detroit Tigers, batting just .246 in 153 games, though he was able to hit 31 home runs and collect 87 RBIs.

2017 has been a different story as he has been the most valuable player on the Tigers roster. In 125 games, Upton is batting .279 with 28 home runs and 94 RBIs while having the duty of patrolling left field.

Even though he is set to make $88.5 million over the next four seasons, Upton has said on multiple occasions that he had not yet decided on if he would opt-out of the contract to test free agency.
