The Detroit Lions raised more than a few eyebrows last season with their unceremonious trade of safety and team captain Quandre Diggs to the Seattle Seahawks in late October.
In return, the Lions received a 5th round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft – which was subsequently traded to the New England Patriots in exchange for S Duran Harmon.
That draft pick would once again be on the move in a swap with the Las Vegas Raiders, who would then ultimately deal the pick (No. 172) back to the Lions this past April along with a 4th rounder (No. 121) in exchange for a 4th rounder (No. 109).
The Lions used that 5th round pick to select RB Jason Huntley from Texas, who was included in their latest round of cuts earlier today:
In the time following the trade, Diggs, who performed well for his new team, claimed that he believes he was dealt due to his willingness to speak out in a locker room that didn’t tolerate dissent.
And though it appeared as though the Lions had given away Diggs for practically nothing, they were fortunately able to get Harmon from the Patriots as a result.
