About a week ago, it looked like former Detroit Tigers‘ closer Fernando Rodney may have pitched in his final professional baseball game as he was designated for assignment by the Oakland Athletics.

But apparently Rodney, who is 42, is not quite ready to hang up his cleats as he has reportedly signed a minor league deal with the Washington Nationals.

Prior to being designated for assignment, Rodney posted a 9.42 ERA in 17 games for the Athletics.
In his career, Rodney has pitched in 913 games and has racked up 325 saves over 17 seasons in Major League Baseball.
