BREAKING: Lions receive bad news regarding injury to Golden Tate

After yesterday's wild affair with the New Orleans Saints, the Lions came out a little banged up, to say the least. Wide receiver Golden Tate was among those who were hurt in the tilt, and word has broken today that he may miss substantial time as a result of a shoulder injury.

This is far from good news for a Lions team that has now lost three of their last four games. Tate currently leads the team in both catches and receiving yards, with 36 catches for 363 yards. He has also found the end zone twice, trailing only Marvin Jones in that category. He finished yesterday's game with seven catches for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Although Tate is expected to miss time with the injury, there is some good news in the situation. Detroit has their bye this Sunday, which likely couldn't have come at a better time. Also, rookie wideout Kenny Golladay was listed as “questionable” for yesterday's game, and with two more weeks before the team takes the field again, it is likely that we will see him return to the lineup when the Lions next take the field.

If Tate does indeed miss extended time, Jared Abbrederis may see more of an extended look. Since Golladay's injury, Abbrederis has played in the last two games. While he hasn't exactly been a difference maker to this point, he does bring a bit of experience to the table, having played the last two seasons with the Green Bay PackersTJ Jones, who has 13 catches on the year, will also likely see more of an expanded role.

While numerous others missed time throughout yesterday's game as a result of injury, this is the first news to be released regarding the status of those who were hurt. Surely more news will come to the surface over the next couple of days.
