From Lansing State Journal:

“It has been no secret that I have been living with a number of health challenges,” Perles wrote in his resignation letter. “Despite the limitations, I continued to support the university and remained focused on fulfilling my comments as a trustee.”

Board Chair Brian Breslin said in a news release that he has “known George for many years and his dedication to the university is beyond compare.

“He cares deeply about the people here and has worked selflessly over the years — whether that was as a player, coach, athletic director or board member — to push MSU to its greatest potential.”

Perles was the head football coach at MSU from 1983-1994. During that time, 73-62-4, including going 3-4 in bowl games. The most memorable Spartans season with Perles running the show came in 1987 when he led the team to a 9-2-1 record and a Rose Bowl win over USC.

REPORT: Detroit Tigers zeroing in on free agent shortstop

There is little question about it, 2019 will likely be another rough year for the Detroit Tigers. In fact, do not be surprised if their final record ends up worse than it was this past season when they finished 64-98 in the American League Central.

General manager Al Avila has made it clear that the team is focused on rebuilding and blowing big money in free agency is not something that will not be happening anytime soon.

But that does not mean the team will not be active in free agency as they will look to add a few players here and there.

One position the Tigers will focus on adding in free agency is a shortstop as Jose Iglesias is moving on.

According to a report from Jon Morosi, the Tigers have narrowed their shortstop wishlist down to Alcides EscobarFreddy GalvisJody Mercer, and Adeiny Hechavarria.
