About a month ago, many figured the final game of the Big Ten season between Michigan and Michigan State would be for the Big Ten regular-season title.

That thought was derailed as of late when Purdue overtook both the Wolverines and the Spartans, giving the Boilermakers control of their own destiny as far as winning the title outright goes.
Well, Purdue blew their chances of winning the regular-season title outright as they lost to unranked Minnesota on Tuesday night. With the loss, coupled with a Spartans win over Nebraska, there is now a 3-way tie for first place in the Big Ten as Michigan, Michigan State, and Purdue all sit at 15-4 in conference play with just one game to go for each team.
This, of course, sets up what we all hoped for, a regular-season finale between the Wolverines and Spartans that will determine which team wins at least a share of the Big Ten title.
The winner of Saturday night’s game in East Lansing between Michigan and Michigan State will earn at least a share of the Big Ten title and if Purdue stumbles on the road against Northwestern, the winner of the Wolverines vs. Spartans would win the title outright.
The Boilermakers play Northwestern at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday so Michigan and Michigan State will know the outcome of that game by the time they tip off at the Breslin at 8:00 p.m.
