The Detroit Pistons have traded point guard Spencer Dinwiddie to the Chicago Bulls, according to numerous reports.
In exchange, the Pistons will receive 25-year-old forward Cameron Bairstow.
Dinwiddie averaged 4.4 points and 2.7 assists for the Pistons in two seasons of action. Selected 38th overall in the 2014 draft, he showed occasional glimpses of potential at the point guard position but struggled to develop a semblance of consistency, particularly when it came to extending his range. Dinwiddie shot just 31.4 percent from the floor and 17.3 percent from the arc in 46 games with Detroit.
Bairstow, a Brisbane, Australia native, has seen just 167 minutes of action over two seasons with the Bulls. The 6-foot-9, 250-pound forward has averaged 1.2 points and one rebound in 36 career games.
The minor exchange may prove to be financially motivated, as Bairstow’s contract is currently not guaranteed for the 2016-17 season.
