The Red Wings will once again play with a Chelios in their lineup. Only this time it’s Jake Chelios, son of the former Wing Chris Chelios.
The call-up is on emergency condition after defensemen Jonathan Ericsson left in the first period of the Buffalo Sabres game.
Chelios grew up in Bloomfield Hills and played midget hockey with Little Caesars before eventually moving on to Michigan State where he played four seasons.
During his time in Grand Rapids, Chelios has tallied 14 points in 59 games while playing solid defense.
With the season winding down Jake Chelios won’t have much time to impress, but it will be interesting to see if he can live up to his father’s legacy.
