BREAKING: Tigers closer Francisco Rodriguez notches 400th career save

With a save in tonight’s victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, closer Francisco Rodriguez joined the 400 save club.

He is now the sixth member of the prestigious club, joining Mariano Rivera (652), Trevor Hoffman (601), Lee Smith (478), John Franco (424), and Billy Wagner (422).

The Tigers acquired Rodriguez from the Milwaukee Brewers in November, in exchange for prospect Javier Betancourt and a player to be named later, which was later announced as catcher Manny Pina.

With today’s save, Rodriguez now has 14 on the season. Congratulations, K-Rod!
