Just days before the Detroit Lions wrap up their 2025 season, the Cleveland Browns have snatched one of Detroit’s reserve offensive linemen off the practice squad.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday morning that the Browns are signing center Kingsley Eguakun from the Lions’ practice squad. Because he’s being signed to an active roster, Detroit was unable to block the move, a common late-season risk for teams trying to stash developmental players.
Eguakun, a former Florida Gator, has bounced between Detroit’s practice squad and active roster throughout the past two seasons. He appeared in four games in 2025, making two starts while helping the Lions patch together an injury-depleted offensive line. His transaction history tells the story of a grinder who stayed ready: multiple call-ups, waivers, and re-signings dating back to May 2024.
For Cleveland, the move adds depth heading into the postseason push. For Detroit, it’s another hit to an already thin interior offensive line room heading into Week 18 against the Chicago Bears.
Whether Eguakun develops into a long-term roster piece for the Browns remains to be seen — but for now, he gets a well-earned opportunity on a 53-man roster.
