Caesars Sportsbook releases projected Pistons win totals

The Detroit Pistons earned just their second trip to the NBA playoffs in the past 10 years last season, though they were knocked out almost as quickly as they came in as they were swept by the Milwaukee Bucks in a quick four games.

And if fans are banking on a second straight trip to the big dance next spring, they may not like this projection from Caesars Sportsbook.

The projected win totals for all 30 NBA teams were released today, and not surprisingly, the Bucks are once again projected to be the top team in the Eastern Conference. Behind them are the Philadelphia 76ers. The Los Angeles Clippers, who acquired Kawhi Leonard and Paul George via free-agency, are projected to be the top Western Conference team, followed by Utah Jazz, Houston Rockets, and Denver Nuggets.

But what about the Pistons?

They’re projected at just 37 1/2 wins, 3.5 less than last year’s 41 wins. That would be good for 9th in the Eastern Conference, as the Orlando Magic are projected to hold the 8th and final playoff spot with 40 1/2 wins.

The Pistons added former NBA MVP Derrick Rose, as well as Markieff Morris, Tony Snell and Tim Frazier this offseason. But apparently, those moves weren’t enough to project an improvement on last year.
