Unless you have been hiding in a cave for the past couple of weeks, you are well aware that our Detroit Lions are the team being featured on this year’s season of ‘Hard Knocks’ on HBO. Though former Lions WR Calvin Johnson thinks the show is a “cool thing” for the city and the fans, he would not have wanted to be part of it when he was playing.
The first two episodes of ‘Hard Knocks’ have been even better than advertised and it has been fun to get an inside look into some of the happenings that the casual fan is not generally able to see.
Thanks to all of the cameras and microphones set up by the ‘Hard Knocks’ crew, nothing is missed and the producers are doing their best to show us the most entertaining things that take place during training camp.
Calvin Johnson says being featured on ‘Hard Knocks’ would have been annoying
During a recent interview, Calvin Johnson said that being on ‘Hard Knocks’ would have been annoying for him.
“It would have been annoying,” Johnson commented. “You are already tense and frustrated, wanting to get out of training camp. You don’t want more cameras in your face, than the ones that already have to be there. I wouldn’t want a camera in my face all the time. But, for the city and for football, I think Hard Knocks is a pretty cool thing. An inside look. Not sure how real it is, since it is reality TV. But, it gives fans a look inside the locker room.”
Considering that Calvin Johnson was never much of a vocal leader on the team, it would have been interesting to see how much air time he would get on a season of ‘Hard Knocks.’
