Calvin Johnson suggests where Matthew Stafford should end his career

When the Detroit Lions selected Matthew Stafford with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, you can bet they hoped he would eventually lead the team to the franchise's first Super Bowl in franchise history.

Well, here we are in 2021 and Stafford does not even have a playoff win under his belt, despite playing seven of those seasons with future Hall of Fame wide receiver, Calvin Johnson.

On Monday, Johnson joined the Huddle and Flow Podcast and he said he hopes the Lions trade Stafford to an organization where he can finally win. Calvin specifically mentioned that going “back to Texas” is where Stafford should go if he gets a shot.

From 97.1 The Ticket:

“I look forward to him, honestly, usually a new coach wants to start fresh and draft a new quarterback. So if he gets a shot, hey, go back to Texas and get some work in over there, or just find somewhere where he can get a good squad here at the end and just have a chance,” Johnson said.

Johnson also mentioned that it bums him out that he and Stafford were not able to win in Detroit while they were both in the prime of their careers.

“It’s just unfortunate,” he said. “There was some time there where I felt like, honestly, we had a phenomenal team. I just wish that we would have found some ways to make that squad go, to make it work or build around it.”

Nation, would you like to see Stafford get traded to the Houston Texans or Dallas Cowboys?
