Term and money will be the issue. I think someone other than the Wings will give it to him. At this point in his career, just don’t see the Wings giving him either. I expect Yzerman to make a good offer, but he’ll be outbid.
When you consider all of the variables, I am surprised that the bettors have the odds as high as 45% that he will sign with the Wings. Money talks and I have to believe that he would like to finish his career in Chicago (although he may do that with a joke “one day contract”). I truly think that if he were to leave the Wings, he would like to sign with a cup contender. Florida could offer him a deal that would be appealing given the lack of state income taxes.
