Arizona Cardinals defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, in an attempt to bring attention to the importance of not locking animals in a hot car, did exactly that, TO HIMSELF!
Mathieu, who is a dog owner, did the PSA for PETA to show the extreme dangers of leaving an animal in a hot car, even for a short amount of time. He was able to remain in the car for eight minutes before having to get out because of the extreme heat.
He was very surprised by the positive attention that the PSA has received.
“Just to constantly remind people about the things we do as humans that we might not consider dangerous or harmful to dogs,” said Mathieu. “I was very grateful, very pleased with the response I got.”
The estimated temperature in the car was 120 degrees and eight minutes felt more like 20 minutes to Mathieu.
