Kerry Carpenter Powers Tigers Past Mets with Three-Run Blast

Mize Steady on the Mound
On the pitching side, Casey Mize gave the Tigers exactly what they needed: five innings of one-run ball, allowing five hits and striking out three. It wasn’t dominant, but it was efficient, keeping Detroit in control long enough for the bats to break through.
The bullpen held up its end as well. One of the game’s key moments came in the sixth when Tommy Kahnle induced a double-play ball from Starling Marte with the bases loaded, crushing what could’ve been a Mets rally.
