Detroit Tigers pitcher Casey Mize recently turned in a quality performance in his first career MLB start after being called up from Toledo last week, showing the poise and rhythm of a seasoned veteran rather than a rookie – tossing seven strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings of work against the Chicago White Sox.
Fans and management are hoping for Mize, who was their 1st overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, to be a major part of the franchise’s turnaround.
So why not learn from one of the best to ever wear the Old English D?
Mize revealed that he spoke with Tigers legend Jack Morris recently of throwing the perfect splitter;
“It’s taxing for everybody to go out there and do what we do, but especially if you throw a splitter, you take more care of your arm care,” Mize said.
