Roster Decisions On the Horizon for Ken Holland – Defense

This season, the Wings were forced into an uncomfortable situation with two of their young prospects. Mattias Ritola and Jakub Kindl were both out of minor league options, meaning that in order to be returned to the AHL, they had to clear waivers.

Neither was necessarily kicking the door down to be brought up to the big leagues, but they were given a shot to win a job in training camp in September since it was their last chance to make it.

3 Stars for February!

This is a feature that those of you familiar with my writing will remember. For those of you who are new readers, allow me to explain. Each and every game, I assign three stars to members of the two competing teams. They aren’t always consistent with the “Official Game Stars”, however, as I might feel someone had a particularly good game without getting much attention for it. Then, at the end of every month I add up what three Wings players had the most “3 Star Selections” and announce them as the Three Stars of the Month. Trade Coverage 10am-11am

Hey there and welcome to my 2011 Trade Deadline Coverage. A quick walk through on how I’ll be running this today…

I’ll have a separate entry on each hour of the day up until the 3:00 p.m. deadline to keep things easier for you to navigate, instead of potentially 40 posts to sort through, or one huge one to try to locate a specific trade.

I will have the names of every player and team involved in a trade during that hour tagged in each post, so if you are looking from the home page you can see right away what players were moved and click on the corresponding article to see the trade details.

The trades will be bolded within the post for easier viewing.

Follow me on Twitter @robbenneian for the breaking trade coverage, as well as checking back here frequently for more detailed analysis.
