It wasn’t long ago that Detroit Tigers GM Al Avila declared that the team was no longer rebuilding, understandably leading to fans beginning to once again dream of the previous decade when the Tigers had no problem shelling out some pretty big money to attract star talent to the Motor City.
But Mike Ilitch isn’t around anymore. So will his successor be willing to open up the wallet once again? If his comments earlier today are any indication, it could be pretty soon.
“I am very much supportive of the approach that [Avila] and his team have taken of building a young core of talent and now having the desire to bring in high-impact players to fill that out,” Chris Ilitch explained.
This winter?
“Undoubtedly that could happen this winter.”
The likes of big names players such as Carlos Correa, Brandon Crawford and Corey Seager will be free-agents come this winter. Could one of them soon be headed to the Motor City?
