Chris Webber isn’t calling timeout on a reconciliation with Michigan Basketball

Former University of Michigan Basketball Fab Five member Chris Webber hasn’t been back to Crisler Center in 26 years, but that could soon change, thanks to another fellow Fab Five member.

The Wolverines are now led by Juwan Howard after the departure of John Beilein to the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers. And it’s because of that reason that Webber could soon be back at his old stomping grounds.

“Howard is my friend … and therefore, I put pride aside,” Webber said.

“I told Juwon I’d love to come to a practice and he’s definitely extended an opportunity. So, I’m pumped about it when it happens.”

“I haven’t been back to Crisler Arena since the day I left when I was 20 years old going to the NBA. And, so, he knows that’s a special moment for me. So, yeah I would love that.”

Webber had been banned from associating with the school after being caught in a booster scandal in 2003; the ban was for 10 years.

“I haven’t been back because they banned me from the place,” Webber says … “When they did a 10-year ban, said I couldn’t come to the campus, well then, okay I’m not gonna come.”

However, if C-Webb does return, don’t expect it to be in front of a huge audience.

“No fanfare, without people around so I can just go around a reminisce and have a good time as well,” he said.

“Everything doesn’t have to be for everyone to see and I’m sure we’re gonna have that moment for everyone … but for me, just going back there, watching him work, watching him fulfill a dream and seeing what we built there, that’s important to me.”
