It certainly never hurts to add some depth at the quarterback position if you’re a college football program. It also helps to build for the future as early and often as possible on the recruiting trail.
On Sunday, the Michigan State Spartans did both of those things as Valley High School (West Des Moines, IA) quarterback Rocky Lombardi committed to the Spartan football program for the class of 2017.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Lombardi was on campus in East Lansing for an unofficial visit this past Friday along with fellow 2017 MSU commit Hunter Rison, who made his commitment announcement the same day. Rison was excited to say the very least.

Lombardi, currently 3-star prospect, is listed as the seventh-best high school prospect from the state of Iowa in the 2017 class and ranks No. 16 among all dual-threat quarterbacks for his class. He becomes the fifth verbal commit from the 2017 class for Michigan State football.
