Just one day after being named the next head coach for Western Michigan, Tim Lester wasted no time getting together with his team for that first of many, many meetings.

The former Broncos quarterback from 1996-99 will be the 16th different head coach in program history. It will also be his first head coaching gig at the NCAA Division I ranks. He’s had various coordinator duties in the past, most recently the quarterbacks coach at Purdue this past season and held the same role at Western Michigan from 2005-06. He’s also been a head coach at the D-II and D-III level.

In his 44 career games played at WMU, Lester threw for over 11,000 yards and 87 touchdowns, versus 49 interceptions. Those totals put him in the top 10 all-time for passing yards and passing TDs in MAC history.
