The Indianapolis Colts entered Sunday’s matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars hoping to secure a massive AFC South win. Instead, they may have suffered a crushing blow to their playoff hopes.

Late in the first quarter, with the Colts trailing 14–7, quarterback Daniel Jones dropped back to pass on what looked like a routine play. But immediately after releasing the ball, Jones collapsed to the turf with no contact from a defender. He instantly grabbed the back of his calf — the classic non-contact symptom of a potential Achilles injury.
UPDATE: Jones has been ruled OUT for the remainder of the game with an Achilles injury.

Jones was visibly emotional as trainers rushed onto the field, and the reaction from teammates told the story: this could be bad.

The 28-year-old quarterback has quietly put together a strong 2025 season, throwing for 3,041 yards and 19 touchdowns while guiding the Colts to an impressive 8–4 record. Losing him now would dramatically alter Indianapolis’ postseason trajectory.
The team has not yet confirmed the severity of the injury, but the fear on the sideline was evident. If this is indeed an Achilles issue, Jones’ season — and perhaps part of his 2026 campaign — could be in jeopardy.
