The Detroit Lions are in the process of interviewing candidates for both their general manager and head coach vacancies and the rumors/reports are starting to heat up.
On Friday night, a report surfaced claiming that San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, who is a candidate for the Lions head coach opening, “did not do well” in his first interview with the team.
“Saleh did not do very well in the Detroit interview, I was told. And is not a shoo-in to get the job” Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle said in an interview with Houston radio program The A-Team with Wexler & Clanton.
Now, every year around this time, I do my best to remind anyone who will listen to me or read my work that there will be plenty of reports/rumors that will be flying around in regards to head coach/GM searches and that ALL of them should be taken with a grain of salt.
This situation is a perfect example of that as there is also a conflicting report that Saleh had a “great” interview with the Lions this past Thursday.
“According to a well-placed source, the Detroit Lions interview with 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh went ‘great.’ However, the Lions have yet to make an offer.” Jeff Lesson of 97.1 The Ticket reported on Friday during the Valenti Show with Rico.

So, what did we learn from this, class?
We learned that these types of reports and conflicting reports are going to be plentiful over the coming days but not a single one should ever be taken as gospel. Who should you believe? That answer is simple. ABSOLUTELY NOBODY!
Note: While I was writing this piece, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press tweeted out that the Saleh interview with the Lions “went well” and that “they liked his presentation and potential staff.”
A lot of you asking about Robert Saleh this morning, The feedback I got was that his interview with the Lions went well, they liked his presentation and potential staff.
