Dallas Stars outshoot Red Wings 41-6 through 2 periods

You’ve likely never heard of a stat line like this before.

We’re two periods deep at Little Caesars Arena between the Dallas Stars and Detroit Red Wings, and the visitors enjoy a 41-6 shot advantage over their hosts.

And yet, the Red Wings lead 1-0.

Red Wings goaltender Jonathan Bernier is certainly putting in a full night’s work, and will certainly be rewarded as being named one of the game’s three stars.

The only offense on the board during tonight’s game so far? Defenseman Dennis Cholowski ripping a shot past the glove of goaltender Anton Khudobin.

This game is extremely important for Dallas, as they trail the Nashville Predators by four points for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, should Detroit ultimately fall in regulation, they’ll confirm their reservation on the outside looking in of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the 5th straight year.
