Dan Campbell explains how the Detroit Lions will replace D’Andre Swift

On Friday, Dan Campbell spoke to the media before practice and he explained how the Detroit Lions will replace D'Andre Swift.

When the Detroit Lions host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at Ford Field, they will be without one of their star players. On Friday, head coach Dan Campbell explained how the Detroit Lions will replace D’Andre Swift.

During the Lions’ heartbreaking loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Swift, who was already dealing with an ankle injury, suffered a shoulder injury that caused him to exit the game.

Now, the Lions will be forced to play without what is arguably their top offensive weapon.

Who will replace D’Andre Swift as the Lions’ primary RB?

When D’Andre Swift went down with his shoulder injury, Jamaal Williams took the bulk of the carries for the remainder of the game and that is what we expect to happen on Sunday against the Seahawks, though he will certainly get some help.

Dan Campbell said he is “confident” that Williams, Craig Reynolds, and Justin Jackson will get the job done.

“Yeah, real confident. I mean, for the most part Swift was — he didn’t get a lot of work last week, he got a little bit, but obviously he was a little banged up,” Campbell said. “So we leaned on Jamaal, and he did a hell of a job and Craig will take a little bit more and so will Jackson.

“So it’s a — it’ll be by committee and we’re confident, very confident. Trust those guys.”

Jamaal Williams is ready for the opportunity

This is not Jamaal Williams’ first rodeo and he is ready for the opportunity that he will get as long as D’Andre Swift is out of the lineup.

“I love it. Every time. Give me the opportunity,” Williams said. “It just shows that put me in the position and I’m gonna make sure I handle my job. You ain’t never gotta worry about me doing my job or whatever my role is, so I’m just gonna get it done and try to help the team.”

Dan Campbell has already hinted that Swift could be out until after the Lions’ Week 6 bye week, so we can expect to see a lot of Jamaal Williams and the other backups.

Nation, do you agree with how the Detroit Lions will replace D’Andre Swift in the lineup?
