The Detroit Lions made things official yesterday, signing Dan Campbell to a six year contract to become the team’s new head coach.
And following yesterday’s news that Aaron Glenn will be joining Campbell’s staff as defensive coordinator, another addition is reportedly on the way.
According to Lions beat writer Dave Birkett, the Lions will be bringing aboard former Los Angeles Chargers DL coach Gill Smith to run the same position in Detroit:
The Lions are expected to hire former Chargers DL coach Giff Smith for the same position on Dan Campbell’s new staff.

Smith has years of experience at both the collegiate and professional level. His coaching stops include stints at Arkansas, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Tulane and Georgia Tech, as well as the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans and Chargers.
