Dan Campbell says the ‘Good Lord’s looking after’ Detroit Lions

Prior to Friday's practice, Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell spoke to the media and talked about the timing of the Lions' bye week.

When the Detroit Lions 2022 regular season schedule was released, head coach Dan Campbell had to shake his head a bit when he saw that the Lions' bye week would come in Week 6.

Generally, just about any coach you ask will tell you that if they could choose when their bye week is, it would be as close to the middle of the season as possible.

What did Dan Campbell say about the timing of the Detroit Lions' bye week?

As Campbell and his Lions head into their Week 5 matchup against the New England Patriots, they are dealing with a plethora of injuries to a number of key players, including Amon-Ra St. Brown and D'Andre Swift.

Prior to Friday's practice, Campbell spoke to reporters and he said that having a bye week in Week 6 is actually a “blessing” and that “the good Lord's looking after” the Lions.

“You know what’s interesting is normally when you think about the bye, you would love to have it right in the middle of the season. I mean, literally, Week 10ish, somewhere in there,” Campbell said. “But it couldn’t come at a better time for us. I mean, it actually is a blessing. And so it’ll be huge to have this bye next week cause we will get a significant amount of our players back, and very good players back. So it’s a blessing. The good Lord’s looking after us.”
