What will Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell decide to do with Matthew Stafford? Will they move forward with Stafford as a quarterback or will they look to move on?
On Thursday, during his introductory press conference, Campbell was asked about his thoughts on Stafford and he did not mince words.
“I’m gonna have to sit down with Brad Holmes, but here’s what I’ll say: Matthew is a stud. He’s one of the toughest QBs you’ll ever see. He’s extremely talented, a team guy, and I know he wants to win. So I’ll leave it at that.”

I watched that introductory conference and he praised Stafford as noted above and said basically that the offense has more positive pieces than the defense. He did not make any statements of who would be retained, who would not. He said he and Holmes are in the beginning stages of evaluating the roster and figuring out who might be a good fit going forward. Everyone wants an answer about Stafford but they need to back off and give the coach and GM an opportunity to figure things out. Also need to show some respect to Stafford. Tired of all the media and fans being so gossipy about him. Give it a rest and be more respectful of the player who has done so much for his team despite never having had good support on defense or the run game. Holmes and Campbell seem to view this as a retool, not a complete rebuild. so making a move to an unproven QB would be a step back in my opinion.
