When the Detroit Lions selected Matthew Stafford with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the hope was that he would finally lead the franchise to a Super Bowl. Instead, the Lions have not won a single playoff game in Stafford’s 12 seasons in the Motor City and now the two sides will reportedly part ways.
On Saturday, news broke that Stafford has requested to be traded and the Lions have agreed that move is best for both parties.
Following the news, Dan Orlovsky took to Twitter to give his initial reaction.
“It’s time. It’s the right move for Matthew & right move for the @Lions I just hope he eventually is appreciated. He played his absolutely rocks off-did everything he could to try and fix the place and to win. Guy is the absolute best man. Wherever he goes became SB contender.”
