The Detroit Lions reached yet another new embarrassing low under head coach Matt Patricia, getting shut out for the first time since 2009 this afternoon by the Carolina Panthers.

And once again, the maligned head coach of the Lions is facing the wrath of the frustrated fan base.
Former Lions quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky, ever methodical in his approach to viewing the game, has a rather simple solution for Detroit: how about re-hiring former head coach Jim Caldwell?
The Lions enjoyed success under Caldwell, earning winning records in three of his four years on the job and qualifying for the playoffs twice. However, GM Bob Quinn infamously said that a winning record of 7-9 wasn’t good enough as justification for reliving Caldwell of his duties.
What has followed has been nothing short of disaster. Patricia has compiled a record of 13-27-1.
While things under Caldwell weren’t perfect, they certainly were better than what we’re looking at right now. Does Orlovsky have a point?
