Former Detroit Lions quarterback Dan Orlovsky is known for his insightful analysis on ESPN regarding current events in the National Football League.
And he didn’t hold anything back earlier today when discussing the fact that Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has yet to land a head coaching gig.
Additionally, Orlovsky was particularly irritated over the fact that only one minority head coach has been hired to fill the most recent 18 vacancies.
“I couldn’t imagine what it feels like for years and years for something that, one, is a passion of mine,” he said. “But two, is the optimal way for me to support my family. And that support really levels off the starting point for my kids – only to know the work doesn’t matter. The results don’t matter. The character and how I do it doesn’t matter.”
“If I, the white guy, work really hard and have really good results an the character I do it in is at the highest level, I will climb and elevate – that’s not right.”
“We all have to hold the owners accountable to make sure that the internal thought process that the black and minority head coaching candidates have no longer is a reality for them.”

Bieniemy has interviewed with both the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans for their head coaching vacancies, though his interview with Atlanta reportedly didn’t go well.
