Michigan State Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio had a chance at history on Saturday at Spartan Stadium, but a stunning and controversial ending prolonged that at least until next week.
Had the Spartans defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils, Dantonio would have sole possession of Michigan State’s coaching wins record. But only seven points on the board and a botched field goal as time expired spelled doom for the green and white.

“These things have happened across the nation, we see it every week, but it’s difficult to stomach,” Dantonio said.
But how much of a concern is yet another poor showing by the Spartans offense? Apparently, not too much as Dantonio says he’s “not concerned”.
“First of all, I think that the execution sometimes it’s on the field or it’s maybe production,” Dantonio said, “but you can’t put it all on coaches.”
Of course, Dantonio reshuffled his offensive coaching staff in the offseason with Brad Salem taking over as coordinator, but it’s resulted in just one offensive touchdown in two of the first three games.
