Darius Slay shares thoughts on ‘open letter’ from Martha Ford, Detroit Lions’ management

A day after announcing that both Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia will be back for the 2020 season, Detroit Lions owner Martha Ford, along with her daughter Sheila Ford Hamp and team president Rod Wood published an open letter to the fans.

In the letter, Lions’ management attempted to explain why they decided to keep Patricia around for another year before shifting gears quickly to beg Lions fans to fill Ford Field in the future.

Following Wednesday’s practice, Lions Pro Bowl CB Darius Slay was asked for his thoughts on the letter, which also said that the expectation for 2020 is to “contend for the playoffs.”

“I mean, that’s cool, that’s cool,” he said. “I feel like every organization, every team owner wants to be in the playoffs, so that’s how they expect it. So I won’t raise my eyebrows that they’re saying something. I kind of already expected it. That’s why they hired the guys they hired.”
