Following the Detroit Lions latest loss on Sunday to the Chicago Bears, their record currently sits at a pedestrian 3-5-1 – and their playoff hopes have all but been officially extinguished.
Cornerback Darius Slay commented post-game, saying things are going to “get ugly” if the Lions aren’t able to string some consecutive wins together.
“We got to win out,” Slay said. “We all know we got to win that mug out. If we don’t, it going to be ugly. We trying to win out. We got to win out. We know we got to win out and that’s the goal, to win out.”
The Lions are last place in the NFC North following wins by both Green Bay and Minnesota yesterday. Slay and the Lions want to be in the playoffs, but know that time is running out.
“We want to be a playoff team,” Slay said. “That’s why I say we be ugly. If we don’t win, we’re not going to the playoffs. So that’s the whole thing.”
The Lions host the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday at Ford Field.
