It may not have gone exactly as planned but a win is a win and that is exactly what the Detroit Lions came away with on Sunday against Chicago Bears.
After trailing by 10 points in the fourth quarter, the Lions used some Bears’ miscues and some timely plays on their own part to walk away with a 34-30 win at Soldier Field.
But this win was a special one for Darrell Bevell as it was his first NFL win as (interim) head coach.
Following the game, Bevell spoke to the media and it was very easy to tell how excited he was to pick up the victory.
“My emotions right now, I can’t even think straight,” Bevell said. “I’m just trying to wrap my head around this whole thing, what just happened. Like I said, it was a great job by these guys of believing from the moment we started until the end.
“My mentality was that. If I’m going to lead these guys, I got to have the same belief. I believe in these guys. I believe in what we’re trying to do and it goes to them. Those guys believe in themselves as well and I think it showed with how they reacted in those situations and how they played [Sunday] .”
Bevell has his first win under his belt, the question is, how many more will he get with the Lions?
