On Monday morning, news broke that the Detroit Lions unexpectedly fired special teams coordinator Brayden Coombs, effective immediately.
Just moments ago, Lions interim head coach Darrell Bevell, who reportedly made the decision to fire Coombs after Coombs called a fake punt without telling him, explained to the media why the decision was made.
Here are some of the comments.
Darrell Bevell calls the firing of Brayden Coombs "clearly an organizational decision." He took this to Rod Wood. Bevell has been given the ability to manage the staff. But this was run up the flagpole. This, per Bevell, was not a decision the interim HC made on his own.
