Darren Helm listed as “unfit” to practice for Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have gathered the last several days at Little Caesars Arena for training camp in preparations for the upcoming 2020-21 NHL Season, which begins January 14 with a matchup against Carolina.

Several safety protocols are in place amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

For today’s practice, forward Darren Helm, who is in the final year of his contract, was listed by head coach Jeff Blashill as “unfit” to practice today.

While no specific reason was given, “unfit” could mean anything from illness to injury.

Helm has been a member of the team since the 2007-08 season, and could be skating in his final year wearing the Winged Wheel.
