On This Date: Riley Sheahan scores final goal in Joe Louis Arena history (VIDEO)

This one will certainly go down as one of the great trivia questions for hockey as the years go by – who scored the final goal at the historic Joe Louis Arena on April 9, 2017?

Of course, the answer is Riley Sheahan. What’s ironic about that is he went the entire season without lighting the lamp once, and yet did so twice – not only in the final game of the regular season, but also in the history of Detroit’s iconic home since 1979.

Sheahan would soon be dealt to the Pittsburgh Penguins not long into the following season. He’s now under contract with Ken Holland’s Edmonton Oilers.
