While the Detroit Red Wings didn’t get the result they wanted in their 5-4 shootout loss to the Winnipeg Jets, they did get another highlight-reel goal from the one and only Pavel Datsyuk to tie the game.
With time ticking down in the third period, the Wings simply dumped the puck into the Jets’ zone on goaltender Michael Hutchinson. He paddled it off to the boards and it was retrieved by Brendan Smith. Smith patiently waited with the puck while Datsyuk gained the zone, and then received the pass heading into the slot. He threaded himself through four defenders and put a quick snap-shot top-corner on Hutchinson to tie the game 4-4 and eventually take it to OT. Datsyuk looked especially pleased with his performance on this goal.
