The Michigan football program lost a member of their family today. Longtime footballer and Wolverines defensive analyst Dave Adolph has passed away at the age of 79.

Adolph had been a football coach for more than 50 years. He had spent each of the last two seasons as the defensive analyst at Michigan under head coach Jim Harbaugh. Prior to that, he spent six seasons as a staffer for Ohio State. Adolph has had a number of stops, including 20+ years as a defensive coordinator in the NFL for five different clubs. His first ever collegiate gig was a grad assistant back in 1963 at the University of Akron.
Harbaugh, who also had Adolph on his staff back when he was the head coach at the University of San Diego from 2004-07, offered his thoughts reflecting on the football lifer.
