Losing against an awful Michigan State team on Halloween was the low point for Michigan football during Jim Harbaugh‘s tenure.
Until it wasn’t.
On Saturday night, under the lights at the Big House, Harbaugh’s team looked unprepared, unmotivated, and unwilling to even attempt to compete with No. 13 Wisconsin.
The Badgers dominated the Wolverines from the opening kickoff on way to a 49-11 win in what is hands down the most embarrassing loss in the Harbaugh era. Heck, what happened on Saturday night may be the most embarrassing thing that has EVER happened at Michigan Stadium. Yes, that includes losing to Appalachian State.
Following the game, a defeated, dazed, and confused Jim Harbaugh, who noted that his team was “not in a good place right now” spoke to the media about what is going wrong with his football program. Harbaugh admitted that all of his teams’ failures fall on him.
“Not in a good place as a football team right now and that falls on me,” Harbaugh said.
“Every part is not close to where it should be,” he confessed. “Stopping the run. Stopping the pass. Running the football offensively. Throwing in the passing game. All things are thoroughly not where they need to be in terms of execution, so that starts with me. It starts with our coaches and also every person here.”
“You go back and look at every fundamental possibility and address it,” Harbaugh said after the Wolverines’ 49-11 loss to No. 13 Wisconsin at Michigan Stadium, dropping them to 1-3 on the season. “You look at what we’re doing schematically. Because it can only be (these) three things: What you’re doing, how you’re doing it and who’s doing it.
“We’ve got to look at all those things right now.”
“We’re going to reevaluate,” Harbaugh said. “We’ve got to reevaluate all things. Everything that we’re doing.”
“Underperformed in every area,” Harbaugh said, when asked about his team’s questionable body language on the sideline. “Coaching, execution — every man here. As I said, that’s ultimately my responsibility.”
“We’re going to go back and go through everything that you’re doing,” Harbaugh said. “Look for all ways to improve. All ways to improve. Win by all means necessary.”
“That’s going to be our training,” Harbaugh said. “That’s going to be out workouts. That’s going to be our meetings. That’s going to be our coaches. And all of us — in terms of putting our plan together. Every meeting. Every walkthrough. Every practice.”
Nation, are Harbaugh’s days numbered as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines?
