The Detroit Lions defensive line is expected to be a strength in 2019 but that does not mean it cannot improve.
One quick way for Lions’ GM Bob Quinn to make that happen would be to call up DT Gerald McCoy and make him a reasonable offer.
McCoy, who is 31, has reportedly been informed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that they will be releasing him.
BREAKING: DT Gerald McCoy has been informed by the Bucs of their plans to release him after nine seasons. The team decided not to pay him the $13-million salary he was owed for 2019.

McCoy made the NFL Pro Bowl for six straight seasons from 2012-2017 and he was named an All-Pro in 2013 after racking up 9.5 sacks and 50 tackles.
In 2018, he had six sacks in 14 games for the Buccaneers.
There is no way McCoy is going to get the $13 million he was owed for 2019, but if the price is right, I would love to see him in a Lions’ uniform in 2019.
