On deck: Detroit Tigers @ Boston Red Sox

The Detroit Tigers travel out East this weekend to take on the Boston Red Sox for what is, almost undoubtedly, the team’s most important series of the season.

Reports surfaced this past week that the Tigers were waiting until Sunday to decide what they were going to do in terms of buying or selling at the deadline. With that being the case, this series is as important as ever.

Detroit will start off seeing a familiar face in Rick Porcello. He will face off against Justin Verlander in the opening game of the series in what will be a battle to see which struggling pitcher can keep it together longest.
Ultimately, this series, just as the series with the Mariners did, will come down to the bullpen. The bats have come alive of late, but the likes of Joakim Soria, Blaine Hardy and Neftali Feliz may be the ones deciding what happens to the Tigers in this series, and beyond.

Pitching matchups:

Game 1 (7/24/15; 7:10 PM): Rick Porcello (5-10, 5.79 ERA) vs. Justin Verlander (0-3, 6.62 ERA)

Game 2 (7/25/15; 4:05 PM): Alfredo Simon (8-6, 4.63 ERA) vs. Eduardo Rodriguez (5-3, 4.64 ERA)

Game 3 (7/26/15; 8:08 PM): Shane Greene (4-7, 6.52 ERA) vs. Brian Johnson (0-1, 8.31 ERA)
