The Detroit Tigers (61-47, 1st place Al Central) were able to end their home stand on a nice note with a convincing three game series sweep of the Colorado Rockies. The Tigers will now depart on a nine game road trip with the first series being against the New York Yankees.
The Yankees aren’t what they have been in past seasons as they currently are 56-53 and in third place in the AL East, 5.5 games out of first place. The Yankees offense has scuffled this season as they rank outside the top ten in the American League in team batting average and 10th overall in the AL in runs scored.
The big news of the series will be on Tuesday night when the newest Tigers ace David Price makes his debut after being traded from Tampa Bay last Thursday. The Tigers will look to continue to get strong pitching this series the same way they did against the Rockies. The bullpen is well rested, so there should be no shortage of arms if need be. The Tigers have played their best baseball on the road this season as they currently own the best road record in all of the MLB at 31-20, they are fighting for the American League best record, right now behind the Oakland A’s by a couple of games according to My Top Sportsbooks.
