It was a scary moment during Denmark’s opening Euro 2020 game on June 12 against Finland in Copenhagen as Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the field in the 40th minute after suffering cardiac arrest.
Medical staff immediately tended to Eriksen, who was soon transported to a local hospital and was stabilized. And now, after a successful operation, he’s been discharged from the hospital, according to a statement from the Danish Football Association.
“Christian Eriksen has been through a successful operation and was today discharged from Rigshospitalet,” the FA said in a statement on Twitter.
“Today he also visited the national team in Helsingor — and from there he will go home and spend time with his family.”

He was fitted with a device called implantable cardioverter defibrillator, which is a form of pacemaker and can prevent fatal cardiac arrests by discharging a jolt to restore a regular heart rhythm.
