In order for Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes to trade out of the No. 7 slot in the 2021 NFL Draft, he needs a dance partner.
There has been plenty of speculation as to which teams could be willing to trade up and Nick Cosmider of The Athletic believes the Denver Broncos could be one of those teams.
In his most recent mock draft article, Cosmider suggest that if he was running the show in Denver, he would send the No. 9 overall pick, the No. 71 overall pick, and a 2022 second-round pick to the Lions in exchange for the No. 7 overall pick.

If I’m running the Broncos, the quarterback I’m willing to make a move for is Fields. I’ll wait for Lance, as I did in the first scenario. I’ll even consider Jones at No. 9 if the right trade-back offer doesn’t materialize. But Fields is the quarterback I’m moving up to draft. I’m just going to be smart about how I do it.
I don’t believe the Falcons will draft a quarterback with Matt Ryan under contract for two more seasons. Cincinnati needs to make a splash in the Help Joe Burrow Department, whether that means drafting Sewell to throw blocks or Chase to catch deep balls. The Dolphins are in the same boat; they need to give Tua Tagovailoa another impact weapon.
But I’m not waiting to see what happens at No. 7. In this deal, Detroit gets the Broncos’ third-round pick (No. 71 overall) and a 2022 second-rounder, a big offer that was necessary to hold off the hard-charging Patriots in this pursuit of Fields. In this scenario, I trade Lock and perhaps use some of the capital fielded in return to acquire Teddy Bridgewater, who will start until Fields is ready.
