“If you have two quarterbacks, you actually have none.”
That is a famous cliche that is often credited to the late, great John Madden, and for many situations throughout the history of the game of football, it has been very true.
But that cliche is far from true when talking about Michigan‘s quarterback situation.
Heading into the 2021 season, many believed true freshman J.J. McCarthy should be the Wolverines starter out of the gates but Jim Harbaugh gave the starting nod to Cade McNamara and McNamara has emerged as one of the best leaders in college football.
That being said, McCarthy is an electric player, and Wolverines legend Desmond Howard says he needs to see the field in big situations against Georgia.
“You have a kid with this type of talent, he needs to see the field,” Howard said of McCarthy.
ESPN's Desmond Howard said Cade McNamara and Michigan's staff have handled 'masterfully' the two-QB situation with JJ McCarthy.
