The first wave of the 2022 NFL free agency period is in the books and, as predicted, the Detroit Lions did not make a big splash by signing a player like S Marcus Williams or WR Allen Robinson.
Instead, Lions GM Brad Holmes is clearly sticking to his plan of building the core of his roster through the NFL Draft.
So, what are the Lions’ biggest needs heading into the 2022 NFL Draft?
Heading into the free agency period, the wide receiver position was certainly on this list, but after adding DJ Chark, it moves down to No. 4 on my list of positions of need.
Here are the Lions’ 3 biggest needs heading into the 2022 NFL Draft.
- Pass Rush
- Safety
- Linebacker
Ladies and gentlemen, though I do not necessarily believe pass rushing is the Lions’ biggest weakness, I do believe it is their biggest need heading into the 2022 NFL Draft.
The name of the game in the NFL when it comes to defense is getting to the opposing quarterback on a regular basis and the Lions have not been able to do that.
By adding a solid pass rusher (whether it be Aidan Hutchinson or Travon Walker), the Lions would automatically improve their ability to get to opposing QBs and their defense would take a step forward.
That being said, in addition to adding an EDGE rusher, the Lions MUST select a starting-caliber safety and linebacker in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Nation, what do you think is the Lions’ biggest need heading into the 2022 NFL Draft?
