According to reports, the Detroit Lions have adjusted Matthew Stafford’s contract to free up some cap space.
The Packers converted $14.26M of Aaron Rodgers’ 2020 $19.5M roster bonus into a signing bonus, which allows that money to prorate over five seasons, including 2019.
The Lions did the same with Matthew Stafford’s 2020 $6M roster bonus.
GB creates 11.4M in 2020 cap, DET $4.8M.

Good for the immediate future but down the road the Lions will have to pay up.
Maybe I'm wrong, but Stafford is under contract three more years, so unless the contract was modified to add a voidable year, we're dividing the bonus by four, not five. Also cap saving doesn't include the prorated portion applied to 2019. So $3 million in 2020 cap space, I think https://t.co/amridzx0W4
